RAIN
RULES Is there a threat of lightning? Dynamo
Soccer has adopted the following IHSA minimum safety procedures called
the 30-30 Rule 30 seconds:
Count the seconds between seeing the lightning and hearing the thunder. If
this time is 30 seconds or less then the lightning is close enough to be a
threat. Seek shelter immediately. 30 minutes:
After seeing the last lightning flash, wait 30 minutes before leaving shelter.
More than half of lightning deaths occur after the storm has passed. Stay in
safe shelter until the threat has passed.

Welcome
to a brand new season of Dynamo Soccer. I hope this season will be both fun and
rewarding for you and your players. There are several thoughts I would like to
share with your before the season begins.
Most
youth coaches are kindhearted volunteers. These men and women try hard to
make sports enjoyable and rewarding for kids. However, on occasion some
youth coaches do not fit the mold of a good role model for children. Here
are some suggestions for quality coaching:
Teach
and re-teach! Don’t chastise or yell at players for making mistakes.
Kids
who are having fun on the field are winners. Dynamo Soccer is not
concerned about wins and losses. Make sure your players having fun. Make
sure your players learning. Make sure your practices are NOT monotonous
and boring. Visit the Dynamo web site for coaching resources to keep your
practices lively, fresh and fun.
Coaches
do not berate referees or verbally abuse players. Treat the fields as your
workplace. Are employees in your business taken to task and embarrassed in
front of 200 spectators? If there are concerns with referees or players
use private, voice controlled conversations. Remember to teach and inform,
not abuse and embarrass.
Good
coaches communicate often with parents, they organize the details for
every practice, they arrive on time, and they teach skills; they do not
just scrimmage each practice.
Monitor
playing time: Every player must play the minimum of half of each game. If
a child for some reason refuses to play, notify the referee and the
child’s parents of the situation. Do your best to encourage the child to
get on the field.
Do
not run up the score of a game: If the goal differential becomes greater
than 4 it is required that coaches substitute their higher skilled
players or play the higher skilled players at a defensive position to slow
down their scoring. Other ideas include having players shoot only with the
weaker foot, take shots only after a significant number of passes to team
mates, and to take shots only outside of the penalty area.
Read
through the Dynamosoccer.org website. There is a lot of valuable
information for coaches including responsibilities, age group specific
rules, and coaching resources.
Check
your mailbox in the coach’s room BEFORE each game!
2.Communication
with parents is very important! Please make sure your player’s parents are in
the loop of team happenings. Technology makes this easy! Below are a few methods
you can use to keep families up to date with practice schedules, rainouts and
other important information. However make sure you accommodate parents who lack
technology or the skills to use technology.
a.Use Dialmycalls.com.
This website is free and makes all of your calls for you. No need to make
16 calls to notify parents, just make one. This is the website/phone system the
coaching coordinator used this to notify you about picking up your rosters. The
only restriction to keep it free is that you can only send out one message per
day to no more than 25 phone numbers and there is a short advertisement.
b.You can also use Text Messaging,
Twitter, or create a Facebook page for your team.
3.The
Dynamo Soccer Board will have several positions open for next season. We need
your help. Please consider joining the board. Positions that are up for election
include the President, Secretary, and Parent Representative. Other board
positions that need to be filled which are appointed by the Executive Committee
include Sponsor Chair and Draft/Registration Chair. Some shuffling may occur
with current board members however this then opens up other positions. If you
are interested in joining the board please let me know.
